We manage the process of raising equity from investors, market selection, deal sourcing, due diligence, acquiring financing, closing, and managing the asset. We evaluate a variety of risk factors including market, physical, financial, and legal aspects of the assets we acquire.

An institutional approach requires a strong focus on market and submarket analysis against key metrics of population growth, income growth, employment, crime, and other factors related to rent growth. We ensure the latest property management strategies are employed and utilize best practices for tax optimization and efficient management.

Peter M. Cannell
Acquisitions & Asset Management

Peter founded Cannell Capital Partners and manages day to day activities related to acquisitions and asset management.

Peter began his real estate investing career immediately after earning his M.S. in Bioengineering. From 2000 to 2007 he invested in residential properties throughout Northern Virginia and Washington DC.


Peter also funded and originated loans against residential and commerical properties, gaining valuable experience in underwriting and risk management.


Sensing that outsized market appreciation could not continue, this portfolio was successfully liquidated during 2007 and 2008.

From 2008 to 2013 Peter focused on capitalizing on the opportunity to invest in distressed properties and debt. Portfolio assets included self storage, multifamily, industrial, and retail properties. This provided excellent perspective in evaluating risk and realistic underwriting.

Since 2013 Peter has focused exclusively on investing and managing multifamily assets following a value add strategy to minimize risk and maximize long term wealth.

Peter is active in the local government and is a member of the planning board in Mebane, NC where he lives with his and daughter.
